Fabrizio Romano reports that Eintracht Frankfurt have finalized a deal to sign Arthur Theate, a Belgian central defender currently with Rennes. The transfer is valued at €16 million plus €3 million in add-ons, with Sky Germany indicating that Theate will sign a contract lasting until either 2028 or 2029. Theate was previously set to join Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, but the move fell through.
At 24 years old, Theate is expected to replace William Pacho, who left Frankfurt for PSG earlier in the transfer window for €45 million. Frankfurt’s pursuit of PAOK defender Konstantinos Koulierakis appears to have stalled, as Koulierakis is nearing a move to Wolfsburg.
Theate’s addition will bring valuable experience to Frankfurt’s relatively young defense, alongside Robin Koch, as he has been a regular in Ligue 1 and for Belgium in EURO 2024. The signing of Theate marks Frankfurt’s sixth acquisition of the window, reinforcing their reputation as a top destination for developing young talent.
