Florida Panthers eliminate Boston Bruins, aim return troll at Celtics

After the Florida Panthers eliminated the Boston Bruins for the second consecutive postseason, they turned their attention to trolling another Boston team, the Celtics, on social media.

After eliminating the Boston Bruins for the second consecutive postseason, the Florida Panthers took to social media to taunt another Boston-based team.

The Panthers secured a 2-1 victory over the Bruins, clinching their series in six games with a late goal from Gustav Forsling. This win advances Florida to their second straight Eastern Conference finals, a feat they had only achieved once in their first 28 years, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the Boston Celtics defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5 to knock them out of the NBA playoffs. They took the opportunity to troll Cavaliers guard Max Strus, who had shown up to the game wearing a Panthers jersey. Strus, who played three seasons with the Miami Heat, wore the jersey just after the Bruins forced a Game 6 with a road win. He was also part of the Heat team that ousted the Celtics in the 2023 Eastern Conference finals.

However, the Panthers had the last laugh on Friday, responding to their victory by posting an old clip of Celtics star Jayson Tatum praising Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk, calling him “a great guy.” This clip, from a video on Tatum’s YouTube channel in April 2013, features both Tatum and Tkachuk, who were classmates at Chaminade Prep in St. Louis.

Tkachuk contributed an assist on Florida’s game-winning goal and scored points in three of the six games against Boston. The Panthers are set to face the New York Rangers in the next round, while the Celtics will compete against the winner of the Indiana Pacers-New York Knicks series.
