Doncaster Rovers boss Grant McCann on League Two’s pulling power after rivals’ eye-catching coup

Gillingham grabbed attention when they revealed Bradley Dack’s high-profile signing earlier this week.

The 30-year-old was convinced to return to Doncaster Rovers following a lengthy tenure at Blackburn and a brief spell at Sunderland by one of their competitors for promotion, sending a strong message about their intentions.

Despite his well-known history of injuries, Dack is seen by many as an excellent addition to the fourth division.

Naturally, earlier in the summer, Rovers signed Billy Sharp, another player more used to playing in the top two divisions than the bottom level, and made their own shocking addition.

According to Rovers CEO Grant McCann, the Dack acquisition demonstrates League Two’s drawing power.

He told the Free Press, “There’s obviously a bit of money being spent in this division.” “It’s true that this league is difficult. Last season, especially those first six months, we learnt that.

It’s harsh if you’re not ready, prepared, or correct for it. At this level, there are several very talented players.

“Over the past year or two, a number of people have moved to this level and the one below. Of course, there are also the so-called older ones, like Bradley Dack and Billy Sharp, who are returning to this level.

“Dack is an elite athlete. He has a very long history in the Championship. Despite his apparent history of injuries, Gillingham has made a great addition with this player. Bravo to them.”

Rovers will try to keep up their winning start to the new campaign today when they go to Newport County.
