Steve Kerr has an incredibly difficult task managing the Golden State Warriors this season. The team has a plethora of talent between championship veteran players and younger players with upside. As such, sometimes Kerr makes crucial mistakes.

The Golden State Warriors absolutely needed to beat the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night. It was a game that would have likely solidified the Warriors as the 8th seed, giving them two chances to get into the playoffs. Instead, they’ll have the worst-case option of being the 10th seed, playing two games while both on the road.

A few days after the game in retrospect, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr revealed what he believed was a massive mistake in the important game.

“To be perfectly frank, I wish I had played Trayce a little bit more,” Kerr said.

Trayce Jackson-Davis was a team-best plus 12 in 22 minutes on Friday night against the New Orleans Pelicans. He put up 10 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal on 71% shooting from the field. Despite the stellar play, Jackson-Davis played the least amount of minutes out of any starters on the Warriors. As the game was occurring, Warriors fans were in an uproar about Jackson-Davis not closing in the fourth quarter.

Moments like these will be the growing pains of a Warriors team that’s in an awkward transition era. The team has to pick and choose when to play its championship veterans, or promising young players.
