After suffering a setback against Hibs over the weekend, the former Hearts manager was fired due to his dismal performance.
Craig Levein, the former manager of Hearts, was fired by St Johnstone.
This season, the former Jambos player, director of football, and manager has only managed to win one Premiership match. St Johnstone, who are presently ranked tenth in the standings, lost 2-0 at Hibs on Sunday, their fourth loss in as many games.
The club has removed Levein of his duties after that defeat, which turned out to be his last game in command. The board of directors can confirm that St Johnstone Football Club has parted ways with manager Craig Levein as of today, according to a brief statement from the Saints.
“The football team would like to officially thank Craig for all of his hard work while he was at McDiarmid Park. A second update will come out eventually.
After resigning from his position at Hearts in 2019, Levein made his first appearance in football management last season. Last season, he signed a three-year contract with St Johnstone, and the team managed to survive in the Premiership by just missing out on the relegation play-off final.
They have now lost four games this season, and their lone victory—a 3-0 triumph over Kilmarnock—came on the road against ten men. Four red cards were issued to Levein’s team in the first few games of the current campaign. This weekend, St Johnstone travels to ninth-place Ross County in a significant encounter. Before the next international break, they play Celtic and Rangers in back-to-back games.
