Training ground diligence paying off, according to summer signing
Junior Hoilett, the new hero of Hibs, thinks he’s joined a team that can compete with Scotland’s best teams. The seasoned winger claims that supporters are now reaping the rewards of “small tweaks” made during a fruitful international break. He was an immediate hit with Easter Road regulars after making a spectacular impression as a half-time substitution in Saturday’s 2-0 home victory against St Johnstone.
Due of Premier Sports Cup ties this weekend, Hibs’ schedule is empty. However, they will be back in action on Sunday week when they travel the formidable distance to Ibrox. After a major summer revamp, new manager David Grey hopes to use the unwelcome break to hone a team that is still coming together and be ready to play at its best against Rangers in their own backyard.
Acquisition of free agents The most recent addition to Gray’s ongoing project is Dwight Gayle, who signed with the team last week, making him the rookie coach’s TWELFTH signing. Hoilett thinks Hibs can beat anyone if they have enough time to come together.
“We’ve seen how we played on Saturday,” the Canadian winger, whose entry into the fight on Saturday proved to be a turning point, stated. We can compete with the greatest, in my opinion.
It only required minor adjustments. Against St Johnstone, we scored those goals and maintained a clean sheet—something we desperately needed.
“We know it’s working because we also produced some excellent opportunities. All we have to do is keep up our diligent effort in the training area and apply it on game day.
Following his signing as a free agent at the beginning of August, Hoilett had been diligently recovering behind the scenes from a hamstring injury. The seasoned striker is keen to have a similar effect in Edinburgh after making an impression during his half-season loan at Aberdeen the previous year. He stated, “It felt great to be back.” It’s great to be a part of a group this strong.
