When Hull City asked Thimothée Lo-Tutala to sign a new contract, he feels it was an easy decision to stay in East Yorkshire.

With the option to extend by a further 12 months until the summer of 2029, should he stay at the club for that duration, City and the French Under-20 international have reached an agreement on a new four-year contract.

Although he has been named on the bench 24 times since joining the Tigers from Tottenham Hotspur two years ago, the 21-year-old custodian says the opportunity to continue his education at City was a major factor in his decision to stay, something he didn’t feel he would have gotten had he stayed in North London.

After spending stints on loans at Stevenage and Doncaster Rovers, Lo-Tutala returned to City during the summer. However, his recovery was hindered by injury, as he was not included in the pre-season trip to Istanbul despite being a member of the travelling party. He currently finds himself behind Ivor Pandur and summer arrivals Anthony Racioppi and Carl Rushworth.

It is indeed a blessing. After signing his new contract, he expressed his gratitude to God and the club for their faith in him and for letting him stay here to grow and learn.

It seemed obvious to me to renew when the club approached me about it. I feel wanted, which is what I wanted to feel. I’ve picked up invaluable experience that I would not have at Spurs. In terms of playing out and breaking the press, getting on the ball, the style of play has worked for me. I learnt how to handle pressure and various players and coaches from both loans.

“One key lesson was that the play style at Stevenage was very different from Donny’s; you had to adjust.” I hope I can be of assistance soon as the club is moving in the correct manner.”
