When the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-103 on Tuesday night, American basketball star LeBron James and his 20-year-old son Bronny became the first father and son team to play together in an NBA game.
Fans at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena gave Lakers stars LeBron and Bronny a standing ovation as they checked in together with four minutes left in the second quarter.
Now in his 22nd season, LeBron, 39, is the NBA’s all-time top scorer with 40,490 points in 1,493 games. In addition to winning three Olympic gold medals with Team USA in Beijing (2008), London (2012), and Paris 2024, he earned four NBA titles, the most recent of which he shared with the Lakers in 2020.
He outscored the Timberwolves by 16 points. In his NBA debut, Lakers guard Bronny James played two minutes and forty-one seconds without scoring any goals.
The Lakers, headed by Anthony Davis, won at home thanks to the 31-year-old forward-center’s game-high 36 points and 16 rebounds, making him the game’s key player.
Lakers forward Rui Hachimura contributed eighteen points.
Anthony Edwards, a shooting guard, led the Timberwolves with 27 points.
Ken Griffey Sr. and his son Ken Jr., the first father and son team in baseball history to play together for the Seattle Mariners in an MLB (Major League Baseball) game in 1990, showed up at the Crypto.com Arena to watch the historic Lakers vs. Timberwolves game and to take a picture with LeBron and Bronny.
