Lewis Hamilton is enjoying his summer break far away from the race track. The seven-time world champion has instead been exploring Africa for the second summer break in a row. According to his Instagram, the trip has made the 105-time Grand Prix winner feel more ‘at peace’ and ‘re centred’ before the second half of the season begins. Hamilton has once again updated fans about his trip, as he most recently visited Senegal, a country that he ‘can’t recommend enough.’
Hamilton explains that he visited Goree Island, which was one of, if not the largest slave trading site on the African coast. He described the visit as ‘heavy’, but ‘important’ to ‘honour the people we come from.’ The Brit is sure to continue sharing snaps of his travels around the continent before the season restarts in the Netherlands next week, and you can see his snaps from Senegal below.
