As his agents fly to the UK, Liverpool is exploring a surprising new possibility for Amorim.

Jurgen Klopp’s successor at Liverpool is reportedly “considering” hiring a manager who won a championship, making Liverpool a “surprising” new opponent for Ruben Amorim.

Who is most likely to succeed Klopp?

The more this season goes on, the more it appears as though both Klopp and his side have run out of steam; Sunday’s 1-0 Premier League loss at home to Crystal Palace epitomized that. Klopp will leave at the conclusion of the season, citing fatigue as a major factor in his decision.

It will be a tough challenge for FSG to replace the German, though, as Xabi Alonso has committed his future to Bayer Leverkusen for the time being, even if it appeared that he was the obvious choice at the close of the season.

Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso.Amorim, who is 39 years old and one of Europe’s best young coaches, has thus emerged as the clear favorite to succeed Klopp at Liverpool. He is poised to lead Sporting CP to a second Primeira Liga championship. There has been talk of a “verbal agreement” between the Portuguese and the Reds, but the youthful coach has refuted it. Even while it appears that he is currently the overwhelming favorite to lead this gifted Liverpool squad going forward, FSG’s selection of him is not a given. There are still names that could become competitors, and one of those names has now been added.

Liverpool is observing Niko Kovac as a potential future addition.

A recent report from The Daily Mail claims that Liverpool is considering Niko Kovac, the former manager of Bayern Munich, as a replacement for Amorim this summer. The Croatian is said to be “available after leaving Wolfsburg earlier this season” and a “surprise name under consideration” by the Reds. His delegates “have been in London recently and are understood to have sounded out Premier League clubs ahead of potential managerial changes this summer,” the newspaper adds.

After leading Bayern to the Bundesliga title in 2018–19 and winning two German Cups while in charge, Kovac is a proven winner and an intriguing choice for Liverpool.

The 52-year-old, who is well-known for frequently using a 4-2-3-1 configuration, hasn’t accomplished as much during his stints at Wolfsburg and Monaco since leaving Bayern, and his dismissal from the latter last month raises questions about his value at Liverpool.

The Reds must appoint a new manager this summer, and although Klopp is, well, hard to replace, Amorim seems like the most probable candidate to have the largest influence at Anfield.

Suddenly bringing in the former Bayern player instead would feel like a major risk because he is a younger choice than Kovac and is now excelling in his job and being lauded as a future great in his industry.
