Heartbreak for Dolphins: Possible Eye Surgery After Rare Injury

Dolphins Defensive Tackle Zach Sieler Out with Eye Injury

The Miami Dolphins will be without defensive tackle Zach Sieler for their upcoming game against the Arizona Cardinals due to an unusual eye injury sustained during practice. Reports indicate that Sieler suffered a fractured orbital bone after being poked in the eye, which is a break in the bones surrounding the eye socket. The Dolphins are still assessing the severity of the injury, with surgery being a potential option depending on the findings.

Sieler, who joined the Dolphins in 2019 after being drafted in the seventh round by the Baltimore Ravens in 2018, has established himself as a vital component of Miami’s defensive line. He signed a three-year, $30.8 million contract extension earlier this year and has started all six games this season, tallying 18 tackles, two sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery. Last year, he recorded career highs with 70 tackles and 10 sacks.

In response to Sieler’s absence, the Dolphins have signed veteran defensive lineman Matt Dickerson to their practice squad, looking to bolster their depth on the defensive line. As Sieler recovers, the Dolphins will hope to maintain their defensive strength against the Cardinals.
