Millwall attacker ‘goaded by experienced opponent’ as boss wants lesson to be learned

Millwall head coach Neil Harris says that Aidomo Emakhu has to learn his lesson after being “goaded” into a red card by Preston North End’s Robbie Brady on Saturday.

The Republic of Ireland international sat out Tuesday’s 1-0 loss at Cardiff City as he started a three-game ban – not ideal when the Lions were short of attacking options with Josh Coburn and Tom Bradshaw already unavailable due to injury.

Emakhu had been booked for a dive before reacting aggressively after being given a little kick by Brady as the Millwall youngster climbed up off the turf.

“Having seen it back, Aidomo reacted to being goaded by an opponent, an experienced opponent,” Harris told the South London Press. “Aidomo has been slightly naive with his reaction. It happens with young players and the emotion of the moment.

“It’s not ideal for us and it’s certainly not ideal for Aidomo. But there is nothing we can do about it now. We looked at the case to appeal and didn’t feel we had any grounds with the decision.

“What the Preston player does to affect Aidomo’s mindset isn’t any of my concern, to be honest, nothing is going to change afterwards.

“Aidomo has to learn from the moment and make sure it doesn’t happen again in his Millwall career and his future career.”
