Millwall boss believes “at least three” new signings are required before the transfer window shuts.

Millwall head coach Neil Harris has stated that the Championship club requires “at least three” new signings before the summer transfer window closes.

Steve Gallen, the former Charlton director of football, has been brought in to spearhead Millwall’s recruitment efforts. Despite his appointment, the process has been challenging, with only four new players joining the squad so far.

After Saturday’s 4-3 loss at Bristol City, Harris was asked if he and the club’s board agreed on the need for additional reinforcements. He confirmed, “Yes, definitely. It’s crucial to communicate this to the fans. I support my players completely. They’ve given everything in the three games this week, which has been a grueling start to the season, with matches against Portsmouth and Watford preceding this tough fixture at Bristol City.”

Harris emphasized the importance of bolstering the squad, particularly in the attacking and midfield areas. “We’re at least two players short up front and in midfield. With Billy Mitchell out, George Saville and Casper De Norre are covering significant distances and need support. So, I’d say we need at least three new faces.”

Despite his desire to strengthen the squad, Harris acknowledged that his team has shown attacking promise, scoring five goals in two league games. “The fans will appreciate our attacking intent,” he noted. “We’ve scored six goals in a week, but we need to balance this with defensive solidity. At the moment, it’s not about being a poor defensive unit but rather making mistakes that have cost us.”
