Millwall issues a statement amid injury concerns, citing record signing reports for national team duty.

Though the Serbia FA has called up the striker for their next Nations League games, Millwall feels that a period of recovery is the best course of action for their record signing, Mihailo Ivanovic.

With a broken metatarsal, Neil Harris revealed over the weekend that the 19-year-old will be out for up to two months.

On the day of the transfer deadline, Ivanovic joined from Serbian premier league team Vojvodina for a club record sum over £2.5 million.

“We are proud that Mihailo Ivanović’s talent and hard work has been recognised to represent Serbia’s national team at just 19 years old,” Millwall stated on Wednesday morning.

“We are thrilled to have signed Mihailo to a long-term contract. He was recognised as a player with enormous potential earlier this summer.

“The club discovered a possible short-term metatarsal injury that might be treated with the best treatment in London after a battery of intensive medical examinations.

“Our medical team feels that Mihailo would benefit most from a period of rehabilitation and is confident that his national team will look after him well.”

“The Serbian FA and the club are in continuous communication.” We hope for the best for Mihailo on his first of many calls-ups to the national team, and we can’t wait to watch him play for Millwall in the upcoming months.

Although Millwall has informed the Serbian FA of the results of the medical examination, they believe Ivanovic is well enough to participate in the camp prior to their matchup on Thursday against the victors of Euro 2024, Spain.

Prior to Millwall’s 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at The Den, Ivanovic was presented to the supporters of the team.

“Mihailo is a young player,” stated the Lions’ manager. He was called up to the Serbian national team. I believe it is important for everyone to be aware that he will be sidelined for eight weeks owing to an injury.
