Millwall miss out on loan target as Leeds United suffer setback in Chelsea transfer deal.

Saturday brought more drama to the Championship as Millwall and QPR experienced contrasting results. Millwall fell 4-3 at Ashton Gate in a thrilling encounter, while QPR earned a valuable 2-2 draw at Sheffield United, despite ending the game with ten men. With just two weeks left in the summer transfer window, clubs are ramping up efforts on new signings. Stay tuned for the latest updates and transfer rumors from the second tier.

Sagoe Jr finds club

Millwall has missed out on Arsenal prospect Charles Sagoe Jr., who was a target for them, especially in the winter, and there were rumors of renewed interest this summer.

Sagoe Jr., who spent the latter half of last season on loan at Swansea City but only made two league appearances, has now joined Shrewsbury Town on loan for this season. Shrewsbury manager Paul Hurst expressed his satisfaction with the signing, noting, “I’m really pleased to bring Charles Sagoe Jr. on board, as we’ve needed more options in the wide areas. We’ve been pursuing him for a while, including during the January window. His summer tour with Arsenal delayed our opportunity to secure him.

“The fact that we’ve shown interest for some time likely played a role in finalizing the deal. Now, we need to get him up to speed, as his pre-season preparation was different due to his tour with Arsenal.”

Humphreys deal

Burnley has reportedly agreed to a deal for Chelsea’s Bashir Humphreys, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, which also mentioned Leeds’ interest this summer. Fabrizio Romano confirms: “EXCL: Burnley have secured a loan with a mandatory buy clause for Bashir Humphreys from Chelsea. The deal will turn permanent with a 5-year contract. Burnley views him as a crucial defender for both now and the future.”

West Brom struggling with deal

West Brom are still reportedly pushing to sign Joseph Nonge having been frustrated with their efforts so far. Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri says the Baggies are still waiting to hear back from Juventus as they look to find out whether a deal can be struck for Nonge.

The journalist reports that “thinngs are stagnating”, with West Brom seemingly struggling to make any real progress. The 19-year-old has made two senior appearances for Juve since coming through the club’s academy last year
