Mixed emotions for Millwall star Watmore after Bristol City stunner

Millwall star Duncan Watmore had mixed feelings after his impressive performance in the 4-3 loss to Bristol City. Watmore scored a crucial goal in the 64th minute to put Millwall ahead for the first time in the match, following earlier goals from Romain Esse and Tom Bradshaw that had equalized from a 2-0 deficit.

Despite the personal highlight, the game ended in defeat, leaving Watmore to reflect on what might have been. He shared with News at Den, “I really enjoyed scoring. It was a bit different from some of my other goals. I felt great at that moment because we had just taken a 3-2 lead and had a lot of momentum.”

He continued, “It’s disappointing not to turn that into a positive result. We’re frustrated because we feel we’ve played well enough to have earned more points from these games.”

Watmore remained optimistic, saying, “We’re frustrated, but we believe that if we keep performing well and address a few issues, the results will follow. We’ve shown we can be dangerous and create chances, so I’m confident things will improve.”

Reflecting on his scoring form, which included a brace against Watford the previous week, Watmore admitted he’s not entirely sure why he’s been so prolific. He credited the manager for allowing him the freedom to express himself on the pitch, which he greatly appreciates.

Watmore concluded, “I’m enjoying the scoring run, but I know every game is different. I just have to keep working hard and taking things one game at a time. The main thing is to keep doing what’s working and stay positive.”
