According to Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, quarterback Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys have reached an agreement on a hefty four-year deal extension.

Prescott will get a maximum payout of $240 million from the extension over the following four years ($60 million annually), with $231 million in guaranteed funds. In the opening week of the 2024 NFL season, Prescott and the Cowboys have essentially reset the quarterback market.Throughout the offseason, one of the main concerns for the Cowboys and the NFL in general has been Prescott’s long-term status. In 2023, he led the Cowboys’ scoring attack and set league records for both passing touchdowns and points scored. Additionally, he was the NFL’s second-most efficient quarterback, behind justSince the Cowboys selected Prescott in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL draft, the 31-year-old has been a thorn in the side of the New York Giants. Some thought the Giants may view him as a viable option if they needed a quarterback after the 2024 season. Rather, Prescott will play for the Cowboys through 2028, the year he turns 35.
In preparation for their Sunday game against the Minnesota Vikings, the New York Giants on Saturday promoted two players, who are mainly special teamers, off their practice squad.

Carter Coughlin has been promoted after being cut on Thursday and then signing back to the practice squad on Friday. Coughlin is a linebacker who has been with the Giants for five seasons.

The other player raised was Ty Summers, who was also designated as a linebacker. Summers is essentially an emergency linebacker and special team player, much like Coughlin.

In his sixth NFL season, Summers was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He was a player for the Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints, and Packers. With just 205 defensive snaps to his belt, Summers has not been employed in a defensive capacity since 2021, when he played 29 snaps for the Packers. In 2023, he made 303 special teams plays for the Saints.

In his fifth season in the NFL, Curtis Bolton was cut from the 53-man roster. He’s just another special teamer/linebacker. He has only played 16 defensive snaps in 28 NFL games, but he has played 491 special teams snaps.

There are presently two spots available on the Giants’ 53-man roster.
