Jets and Eagles are making a rare switch in a proposed $65 million trade.

This season, things simply haven’t worked out.
Haason Reddick was dealt to the New York Jets, although he hasn’t yet reported. Ever since he signed his big-money contract, Huff has struggled. This offseason, the former Memphis product created NFL history. At the time he inked his $51.1 million, three-year contract, $34 million of which was guaranteed. That was the biggest contract ever offered to a previously undrafted free agent who wasn’t a quarterback.
Huge expectations accompany a financial commitment of that magnitude.
Huff hasn’t lived up to the anticipation during the season’s first two games, it’s fair to say.
For the Eagles, Huff has played in 48% of the defensive snaps, which is the most since 2021. Huff has only recorded one assisted tackle in that playing time.
When Huff was “stonewalled by a TE for a solid 5–6 seconds” during Monday Night Football in Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons, NFL analyst Shane Haff made light of it.
A social media user stated, “You can see quickly that the Eagles flushed 50 million dollars down the toilet if you just watch Bryce Huff every play.”

The Jets were prepared to make this non-direct trade this offseason for a reason. Huff was free to move around. The Jets quickly changed course and traded Reddick to the Eagles.

Huff is a youthful, gifted player who recently had a breakthrough year. But the quality of the sacks was constantly poor.
Conversely, Reddick has seen four consecutive double-digit sack seasons. He is regarded as one of the league’s top pass rushers. With 40-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Jets are a win-now team.
