important issues : The Cincinnati Bengals’ chances of acquiring a top receiver in the offseason of 2024 are significantly lowered following a recent trade.

Since perhaps the finest number-two wide receiver in the game requested a trade, the Cincinnati Bengals have found themselves in a hazardous scenario over the past week. The excellent Clemson target man Tee Higgins announced that he no longer wanted to play for Cincinnati after the organization was unable to muster enough support to secure a contract extension for the 6’4″ player.

The Cincinnati Bengals’ Ability to Deal Higgins Is Blown Up by a Recent Trade

Higgins caused yet another stir on social media on Friday night when he shared pictures of himself holding the Tennessee sign. Similar to the significant Instagram mishap from last week, Higgins removed the post almost immediately, but some fans had already taken pictures.

Higgins would love to play for his hometown team. He was born and raised in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and then moved to Clemson University to pursue his undergraduate career. To help quarterback Will Levis become an NFL starter a little bit faster, the Titans would also love to add another gifted wide receiver.

Unfortunately for Higgins, that hope may have been blown entirely out of the water by the Nashville team’s actions on Saturday afternoon. Tennessee made the decision to exchange seventh-round picks and a third-round pick for L’Jarius Sneed, the standout cornerback for the Kansas City Chiefs. More importantly, with Sneed coming with a contract extension, this trade will also come with the $19.8 million franchise tag.

A third-round pick might not seem like much, but it virtually ensures that the team will not reach an agreement to return Higgins to his native state. In his first season as head coach, Higgins is expected to fetch a second-round pick, and Brian Callahan is unlikely to move both second- and third-round picks. That would place a great deal of pressure on the player and the organization, since the success of the first-round pick would be the only thing that would determine the draft class as a whole. Naturally, Callahan recently assumed leadership in Tennessee following five seasons as Cincinnati’s offensive coordinator.

Cincinnati has battled valiantly to retain their top receiver in the city, but Higgins’s antics on social media have begun to damage the team’s reputation. Cincinnati should transfer Higgins as soon as possible to terminate his immature Instagram campaign if they can not begin to reduce the strain between their best player and the front office.
