Veteran pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue is added to the practice squad by the Ravens.
Baltimore is strengthening its pass rush by adding a well-known player back.
According to the NFL transaction wire, the Ravens have added edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue to their practice squad.
Three weeks into the 2024 season and the entire offseason, Ngakoue, 29, had been a laughingstock on the free-agent market. In 13 games for the Chicago Bears in 2023, the ninth-year defensive end finished with four sacks, six tackles for loss, and seven quarterback hits.
Ngakoue will be moving to the Ravens for the sixth time in the last five years. Since 2019, the veteran has played for the Jacksonville, Minnesota, Baltimore, Las Vegas, Indianapolis, Chicago, and now Baltimore once more. During his nine games with the Ravens in 2020, Ngakoue recorded three sacks for head coach John Harbaugh and the team.Ngakoue will try to inject some energy into a 2024 Ravens unit that is currently ranked 32nd in terms of passing yards allowed per game (291.7) and 17th in terms of sack rate.
The seasoned edge rusher stated in May that he was waiting for the “perfect opportunity” to come along and that he wants to “re-establish” himself as one of the top pass rushers in the league. It looks like he located one in Baltimore.
When the 1-2 Ravens play the Buffalo Bills (2-0) on Sunday Night Football on September 29, we’ll see if Ngakoue makes his team debut.
