The Baltimore Ravens dominated the Buffalo Bills in their Sunday Night Football matchup, outperforming them in all aspects, including coaching and physicality. Buffalo suffered a 35-10 defeat, marking their worst loss since falling by 26 points to the Indianapolis Colts in 2021. Additionally, their Pro Football Focus grades dropped significantly compared to the previous three weeks of the season.
In the game against Baltimore, Buffalo received an overall grade of 49.6. For comparison, their overall grades in the first three weeks were 71.5 or higher.
Former Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman and current ESPN analyst Chris Canty expressed skepticism about the Pittsburgh Steelers following their loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Canty does not only doubt the Steelers’ offense but also questions the strength of their defense, believing that these shortcomings will hinder their chances of being a legitimate postseason contender.
“I hate to say this about my friend and brother Mike Tomlin, but I have to call them frauds,” Canty stated. “I don’t want to hear about how they have a great defense. They’re not a great defense. The Colts were repeatedly successful, starting the game with three straight scoring drives, including back-to-back touchdowns. They’re frauds.”
Colts head coach Shane Steichen seems to have figured out Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. In their first two encounters in 2022 and 2023, Steichen’s teams scored 30 or more points, and in their latest matchup, they managed 27 points. It appears Tomlin will need to adjust his defensive strategies to effectively counter Steichen’s scheme.
Other teams may likely attempt to replicate Steichen’s success against the Steelers, especially considering that Tomlin’s defense had previously managed to shut down teams like the Falcons, Chargers, and Broncos. The upcoming matchup against Dallas will provide an opportunity to see if they can maintain that level of success week to week or if Steichen has simply discovered the key to defeating Tomlin’s defenses.
