Brice Samba says he is “not closing any doors” on his future this summer. The former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper has been linked with a return to Marseille from his current club Lens, with new manager Roberto De Zerbi reportedly searching for a new No. 1 goalkeeper.
Currently on international duty with France at Euro 2024, Samba addressed the transfer rumors during a press conference. He stated, “We’ll see what Lens’ position is. I’m captain, so I don’t think Lens will want to get rid of me that easily.
“I’m very, very proud to be the captain of Lens. If I have to stay at Lens, I’ll stay. But I’m not closing any doors this summer; we’ll see what happens.”
Samba began his career at Marseille, spending over four years at the club before moving to Caen, from which Nottingham Forest signed him in 2019. He became a hero at the City Ground, helping the club win promotion back to the Premier League, and many fans were saddened by his sale to Lens in the summer of 2022.
