Behind the scenes, Nottingham Forest seems to be putting plans into action, and it appears that one deal is nearing completion.
The Reds aim to secure some signings this summer, even though much of the focus will likely be on player departures.
Today, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update involving Forest, delivering an exciting piece of news for the supporters.
Fabrizio Romano says Forest are ‘closing in’ on new signing
The transfer expert has taken to X today to indicate that Nottingham Forest are on the verge of signing a wonderkid.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Forest are nearing a deal for St Pauli’s young talent, Eric da Silva Moreira.
The agreed fee is around £1 million, and Moreira is set to sign a contract with the club until June 2028.
Moreira, a client of Jorge Mendes, is expected to be more successful than some of Mendes’ previous recruits at Forest.
The talented 18-year-old has spent the last 12 months playing youth team football, scoring four goals in 15 appearances.
Forest have now secured the signing of the player who contributed to Germany’s success in the Under-17 World Cup last year.
Moreira is intriguing signing for Forest
It’s intriguing to consider Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans for Moreira in the near future.
Due to his lack of consistent play in men’s football, it seems he will be viewed as a prospect for the future. However, since he’s joining ahead of pre-season, the Forest head coach may take the opportunity to assess him more closely during the pre-season matches.
Moreira is undoubtedly talented, but his most impressive performances have been against players of a similar age.
At just 18, he has plenty of time to develop his potential, and Forest could be making a very astute signing.
Moreira can play as a wing-back or as a more traditional winger.
With Forest needing more options in wide areas, it will be interesting to see what Moreira can accomplish at Trentside.
