Nottingham Forest owner Marinakis has embarrassed PL rivals

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted there is “nothing much more you can ask” of the Greek billionaire’s ownership at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest have been big spenders in the Premier League since returning to the top flight via the playoffs in 2022.

Marinakis has also been crucial in pushing through plans to expand the City Ground, with the BBC reporting (8 July) that Nottingham City Council has agreed in principle to sell the land to the club.

This new agreement is now set to allow Forest to expand capacity from 29,000 to 40,000 by rebuilding two stands.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side finished 17th in the table last season after being deducted four points for a breach of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
