The club director asserts plans to bolster the team with new transfers amid Nottingham Forest exile.

Hasan Yavuz Bakır, the director of Çaykur Rizespor, expresses optimism about securing an agreement with Nottingham Forest to retain Jonjo Shelvey at the Turkish club.

Since September, the 32-year-old has been with Çaykur Rizespor after being sidelined from the first-team squad by Steve Cooper at Nottingham Forest. Despite not featuring for Forest since April 23, Shelvey has been a pivotal player for his current club, contributing with 29 league appearances, two goals, and six assists as Çaykur Rizespor holds the eighth position in the Super Lig.

Even with Nuno Espirito Santo taking charge at Nottingham Forest, the likelihood of Shelvey’s reintroduction appears slim, especially given the focus on Financial Fair Play considerations. A permanent transfer to Turkey could benefit all parties involved, especially with Hasan Yavuz Bakır expressing interest.

Bakır stated, “Jonjo Shelvey is content in Rize, and we are pleased with his performance. However, Shelvey remains under contract with Nottingham Forest. If the financial circumstances permit, we will consider adding Shelvey to our roster.”

Shelvey moved to Forest from Newcastle in January 2023 and still has one year remaining on his contract. Despite his limited appearances for Forest, he was excluded from this season’s Premier League squad.
