PENRITH PANTHERS TOP PLAYER RULED OUT OF 2025 SEASON DUE TO INJURY CRISIS

Penrith Panthers are facing a major setback as star halfback Nathan Cleary has been ruled out of the 2025 NRL season due to a severe injury. Cleary, who has been a key player for the Panthers, sustained a recurring hamstring injury during the 2024 season.

Despite undergoing rehabilitation, the injury worsened, with team doctors deciding that he will need extensive recovery time, effectively ruling him out of 2025.

Cleary had initially returned after missing several games in 2024, but re-injured his hamstring in a late-season clash, adding to Penrith’s woes.

His absence not only impacts Penrith’s chances in the upcoming season but also leaves a leadership void on the field, as Cleary was instrumental in guiding the team to multiple premierships in recent years

The injury crisis worsened after the Panthers also lost young talent Jack Cole to a serious leg injury during the NSW Cup. Cole’s injury, sustained from a hip-drop tackle, leaves Penrith’s depth at halfback severely weakened

Panthers coach Ivan Cleary expressed his disappointment, saying, “Nathan is a vital member of our team. Losing him for the entire season is a huge blow, but we’ll focus on supporting his recovery and adapting our strategy.”

As the 2025 season approaches, Penrith will need to rely on their squad depth and possibly recruit new talent to fill the gap left by Cleary’s absence.

Fans and the team are hopeful for a full recovery as the Panthers gear up for another competitive season without their star playmaker.
