Chesterfield midfielder's Port Vale ban confirmed after Grimsby Town clash

In the second half of Chesterfield’s 2-1 victory over Grimsby Town on Saturday, the midfield player was dismissed.

Referee Geoff Eltringham gave the 25-year-old a yellow card in each half, which resulted in a one-game suspension. Both sets of supporters felt that his second booking was harsh, and it was quite gentle. Eltringham faced criticism from both sides for his choices, which included giving the managers, Paul Cook and David Artell, Gary Roberts, the coach of the Spireites’ first squad, and Shaun Pearson, the coach of Grimsby, the yellow card.

Darren Oldaker.

Since Oldaker received two yellows instead of a straight red, his dismissal cannot be challenged. As a result, he will miss this weekend’s trip to Port Vale but will be available again after that. The FA website has verified his suspension.

Due to his absence, Cook will have a difficult decision when it comes to starting on-loan Everton player Jenson Metcalfe or pushing Tom Naylor farther forward into midfield.

The Spireites will welcome back Chey Dunkley, who was forced to miss Saturday’s victory after receiving two yellow cards at Gillingham and being told to march on—a decision that referee chiefs have subsequently acknowledged was incorrect.

Darren Moore, the former manager of Sheffield Wednesday and Doncaster Rovers, is currently in charge of Port Vale, who are currently 12th in the standings with seven points. At Newport County, they triumphed 4-1 over the weekend.
