Galatasaray showed strong interest in Rangers’ Rıdvan Yılmaz during the winter transfer window, but Philippe Clement’s team managed to retain him at Ibrox.
The left-back was called up by Turkey for this international break and has played a major part for Rangers this season. The 22-year-old was forced to leave the team due to an injury sustained against Hungary.
Rangers’ success has made the Istanbul club think about bringing Yılmaz back in the summer.
At the very least, that is what Takvim is claiming, and they offer the position of Philippe Clement over the 22-year-old’s potential departure from Ibrox at the end of this campaign.
The Turkey international has been starting for Rangers in place of Borna Barišić, a regular, in recent months. The former’s contract expires in June, and there have been rumors recently that he will become a free agent after that.
Given the chance to lose Barišić, Rangers have made the decision to hang onto Yılmaz and keep their hopes high for him in the upcoming campaign.
For Galatasaray, who had hoped to go back for the fullback in the upcoming window, Takvim says this is “bad news.”
After 28 games this season, Yılmaz has two goals and one assist for the Rangers.
