In a setback to Philippe Clement, an injury expert has advised Rangers not to count on one important player returning to the starting lineup for the Old Firm game.
Ibrox matchup is almost here.
The Scottish Premiership is coming to a close, and at the conclusion of the season, either Rangers or Celtic might take the top spot. Celtic now tops the table, although that is only because Rangers’ match against Dundee was rescheduled. With a game remaining against the Hoops, Clement’s team is only one point behind.
Once again, these two teams are the top teams in Scotland without a doubt. One has the best attack in the division, while the other claims the best defense. It intensifies the intrigue surrounding their encounter at Ibrox in two weeks, as the winner of the upcoming Old Firm derby will receive a significant boost in their quest for trophies at the conclusion of the season.
While Celtic is worried about center-back Liam Scales and midfielder Reo Hatate, there are undoubtedly greater problems on the other side of Glasgow, so neither team is going to be playing at full strength. Rangers are currently worried about the health of Rabbi Matondo, Abdallah Sima, Danilo, Kieran Dowell, Todd Cantwell, and Ross McCausland.
Update on Abdallah Sima’s injury
Sima will not be able to play in Celtic’s encounter since he will not have had the time to complete his entire training regimen. He will also definitely miss the team’s next match against Hibs. With 14 goals and two assists this season, Sima is still the club’s second-highest goalscorer after Cyriel Dessers, despite missing most of January due to a thigh injury.

In assessing his injury status, medical expert Dr. Rajpal Brar stated that in order to be competitive for the debate, he would have needed to have gone back to training by now.
“Considering how long he has been out, it will be interesting to see how he responds to first-team training,” he told Ibrox News. “I would be surprised to see him not get bounce matches to build up fitness and rhythm.”
“It will take several games before he can handle ninety minutes.” Thus, in my opinion, it is improbable that he will both start and be available for that [Celtic] match. That could be the case if he has already resumed full training, but that does not appear to be the case.”
Rangers, who would have delighted to have been allowed to use Sima for the match, if only as a substitute, will be severely hurt by the news. His eventual comeback, though, will be appreciated following the draw as they attempt to unseat Celtic for first place.
