Despite Rıdvan Yılmaz’s consistent reliance on the Rangers manager Philippe Clement at Ibrox, the left-back was not selected to play for Turkey throughout the first three international breaks of this season.
The 22-year-old was not initially included in the squad for this month’s international break by Turkey’s manager Vincenzo Montella, who had to call up the Rangers youngster after Ferdi Kadıoğlu of Fenerbahçe sustained an injury.
Yılmaz was forced to withdraw from Friday’s friendly against Hungary due to an injury.
According to Ajansspor, the Rangers fullback “left injured,” which is a “great misfortune” for him. Philippe Clement will now be worried.
In the 27th minute, Fenerbahçe’s Mert Müldür took the position of the Rangers player who had asked for assistance. Although the latter prefers to play on the right side of defense, Montella has occasionally utilized him at left back.
It remains to be seen how serious Yılmaz’s injury is and whether he will be able to play against Austria the following week.
Yılmaz has made 28 appearances for Philippe Clement’s team this season, tallying two goals and one assist.
