Rangers might potentially complete the £6 million Abdallah Sima deal, according to reports.
Rangers may acquire Abdallah Sima for £6 million this summer, according to Football Insider sources.
On the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, transfer journalist Pete O’Rourke highlighted that Sima is not a long-term fit for his parent club Brighton.
The Seagulls are now reported to be willing to break even on Sima, 22, by accepting a £6 million proposal – the same amount they paid Slavia Prague for him in the summer of 2021.
The Premier League club had previously valued Sima at £10-15 million, so Rangers would have needed to break their all-time transfer record to keep him at Ibrox.
Abdallah Sima to make permanent Rangers move this summer?
However, they are in a good position to get him for a low price.
The Senegal international has been one of the Gers’ top performers this season, with 16 goals and two assists across all competitions.
He scored game-winning goals in the Europa League before their elimination in the last-16, as well as 11 league goals, the most recent being the second in the 3-3 Old Firm thriller earlier this month (7 April).
However, injuries have plagued his season, and after missing 13 games with a hamstring ailment, he suffered another setback in the Scottish Cup semi-final on Sunday (21 April).
According to reliable sources, the Rangers will pursue a permanent move for Sima, despite his injury difficulties.
Rangers are three points behind league leaders Celtic and have recently advanced to the Scottish Cup final following a 2-0 victory over Hearts.
They return to league play on Sunday afternoon (April 28) with an away game against St Mirren.
