Rangers suffer setback in midfielder chase as Dutch coach gains transfer advantage.

While the club is now targeting young, talented players from emerging markets with high potential, Rangers have extensively used the English loan market in recent seasons.

Liverpool winger Ryan Kent initially joined Rangers on loan before signing a £7 million permanent deal. However, the club’s inconsistent player trading model allowed Kent to leave for free four years later.

Rangers are also in discussions about the return of Brighton loanee Abdallah Sima, who seems eager to return to the Ibrox club.

Fabio Silva, who struggled to make an impact during his short-term loan from Wolves in January, is another example of a high-profile Premier League loan.

Now, another loan deal could be on the horizon as Liverpool prepares to offer a new contract to one of their breakthrough teenage talents.

Rangers linked to Bobby Clark

Liverpool star Bobby Clark made his breakthrough at Anfield last season, attracting attention from clubs across Europe.

Leading Anfield insider Dave Ockop reports that Liverpool is looking to secure the future of the former Newcastle United talent, who is still only 19, with a longer contract.

Despite making 12 appearances for the Premier League giants last season, Clark is expected to go out on loan next season.

Rangers have reportedly shown interest in Clark and are one of five clubs keen on securing his services for the 24/25 season.

Red Bull clubs RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg are closely monitoring the situation, along with Championship sides Derby County and Norwich City.

Currently, Salzburg is said to have the edge due to Dutch manager Pep Lijnders. The 41-year-old, who worked as an assistant to Jurgen Klopp at Anfield for six years before moving to Austria in May, knows Clark personally.

Gers explore Premier League loan market?

The links to Bobby Clark are likely to raise some eyebrows at Rangers, given their current shortage in the midfield department.

With Ryan Jack and John Lundstram leaving the club this summer, Rangers are in talks with experienced Norwich player Kenny McLean to fill the gap.

Currently, Rangers only have Mohamed Diomande, Nicolas Raskin, and Connor Barron as natural central midfielders, so investment in this area is anticipated.

Considering Bobby Clark’s young age, Rangers fans might hesitate to add another youngster to the squad.

Especially since this would mean developing one of Liverpool’s teenage talents instead of their own, like Bailey Rice.

With Salzburg leading the race for Clark, this might be a more suitable option for all parties. In the meantime, we’ll keep an eye on Clark’s situation at Liverpool.

Rangers’ reported interest indicates the club is still looking at the Premier League loan market, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them utilize it this window.

Whether it’s with Bobby Clark or another player, we’ll have to wait and see.
