The career of Roger Federer was nothing short of spectacular, as the Swiss player established himself as one of the most successful and powerful players in tennis history.
Federer retired from the professional tour in September 2022 at the age of 41, but he is still a very well-liked personality and his legacy will always be felt deeply in the sport.
The 43-year-old is the second-oldest No. 1 in ATP history, being ranked No. 1 for 310 weeks in his career, including a record 237 weeks in a row from February 2004 to August 2008.
He won 103 ATP Tour championships, which is an extremely outstanding total. He also dominated various tournaments for several years.
The Halle Open and the Basel Open, which he won ten times apiece, were the two most prosperous competitions of his career.
He did, however, also enjoy great success at the Masters 1000 level, taking home seven trophies from the Cincinnati Open and five from Indian Wells. In total, he won 28 Masters events, which is the third most of any man since 1990.
Unquestionably, though, his greatest legacy is his Grand Slam accomplishments, as he holds the third-highest number of major titles of any male tennis player in history with 20.
Federer’s career’s greatest Slam was the Wimbledon tournament, when he won his first major title in 2003. He went on to win the men’s singles title a record eight times, including five consecutive years from 2003 to 2008.
In addition, he won the Australian Open six times, from 2004 to 2018, and the US Open five times in a row, from 2004 to 2008, in New York.
Along with his 20 Grand Slam singles victories, Federer also famously completed the Career Grand Slam by winning the 2009 French Open. During his career, he has made it to 11 finals.
Among his opponents in the Grand Slam final are some well-known names, but he also faced off against one or two less well-known players on the largest tennis platforms.
