Plymouth Albion are delighted to confirm that Hooker Rhys Williams has joined the club ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Rhys, who was born in Bangor in 1994, has spent the past year playing for the Cornish Pirates, where he has scored three tries in 17 games for the Penzance-based team.
Rhys joins us with a wealth of Navy experience, having been a member of the 2023 team that won the Inter Services Championship by defeating the Army for the first time since 2010.
Rhys, a former Royal Marine Commando, will be a powerful addition to the Forwards pack at Brickfields. He also brings a great deal of high-level experience with him.
Rhys stated, “I’m really excited to play for Plymouth Albion,” upon his arrival. I’ve always heard positive things about the team and their plans for the future.
As a member of the Royal Navy Rugby team, I’ve played at the Brickfields a few times, and I’m excited to get to know the players and the crowd.”
Forwards Coach Aaron Jarvis concluded: “Rhys comes with bags of experience playing in the Championship and being involved in the Navy team for a long time. We’re really looking forward to working with him.
“He’s got a great set piece, he’ll definitely help to drive the standard forward amongst the forward pack with the experience he has.”
