Harlequins have made their first signing for the 2024/25 season, with Samoan international prop Titi Lamositele arriving from Montpellier.
Lamositele, who won three Premiership titles with Saracens, will join London rivals Harlequins.
The 29-year-old, who has represented Samoa and the United States, joins Billy Millard’s side following four years with Montpellier, where he helped them win the Top 14 title in 2022.
Harlequins signs Titi Lamositele
The announcement of his signing comes shortly after Harlequins disclosed that club stalwart Will Collier will leave to join Castres.
Lamositele made his Test debut against Canada in 2013, making him the youngest-ever USA Eagle at the age of 18.
He went on to play 32 internationals for the USA, including two Rugby World Cups in 2015 and 2019, before transferring to Samoa in 2023.
After joining Saracens in 2015, the muscular front-rower won three Premiership and Champions Cup trophies. In addition, he won the Challenge Cup with Montpellier in 2021 and the Top 14 title the following year.
“I am thrilled to be joining Quins. I’ve been impressed by the rugby they’ve played this season, and I can’t wait to return to the Premiership and reconnect with my new teammates,” Lamositele stated.
“I’ve enjoyed my time in France but I’m excited for this new chapter and I can’t wait to pull on the Quarters and play in front of a packed Quins crowd.”
“Experienced and dynamic tighthead”
Millard, the director of rugby, talked highly of his new signing, having previously worked with Lamositele in the United States.
“I’ve known Titi since my time coaching with USA Rugby and I’ve followed his progress closely throughout his career,” the owner of the Quins stated.
“He’s a very experienced and dynamic tighthead who has won numerous club and international honours and provides a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our front row.
“He’s a hard-working, tough ball carrier, who adds plenty of power to our scrum and will be ready to make a good impact next season.”
