Salisbury FC were crowned the FSA Away Day Experience of the Year at the Non-League Paper’s National Game Awards ceremony held at Plough Lane last month
The National League South side received multiple nominations from FSA members and were deemed worthy winners by our panel of judges for the welcome they provided to visiting supporters.
Club director Hilary Bilimore said: “We always try to make sure that everybody visits the stadium has a great time. We try to be as welcoming as possible.”
Salisbury FC Chairman Ian Hammond told the Non-League Paper: “We pride ourselves on our hospitality and we like to think that the experience in a bespoke ground – a big ground at our level – is a positive for visiting supporters.
“Our tea huts and bars are very popular, and everyone has a good view of the pitch, which is a big plus. We’ve also got quite a large car park and it was only when we were getting crowds of over one thousand for the last few games that we had to turn people away. Hopefully, we are nice people as well.”
Community-owned Club of the Year
The National Game Awards also paid tribute to the work of community-owned clubs and FSA members Dunstable Town were named as Community Club of the Year.
FSA community-owned club network manager Richard Irving said: “This award recognises all of the hard work that has been done in building a sustainable club at the heart of its community since its inception as a community owned club back in July 2021.”
Dunstable Town were recognised for their pioneering mental and physical health and well-being programme, Improving the Lives of Others, which began in August 2021 and sees the club provide eight different community support groups every week for up to 120 people.
