Charlton, Reading, and Stockport are in a race to secure the signing of Mallik Wilks.

Sources have informed Football Insider that Charlton, Reading, and Stockport are competing to acquire Sheffield Wednesday attacker Mallik Wilks. At 25 years old, Wilks boasts a track record of success in the English third tier, having previously earned promotions with both Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday. He has maintained an impressive one-in-two goal contribution rate at this level.

After facing limited playing time with Sheffield Wednesday in the recently concluded season, where he made 18 appearances across all competitions, interested clubs are now poised to pursue Mallik Wilks.

Wilks joined Wednesday in 2022, aiding the club in achieving promotion from League One. However, his involvement dwindled in the 2022-23 season, managing just 26 appearances, two goals, and five assists.

His reduced role with 18 appearances and one goal during the 2023-24 season has signaled his potential departure from the club, prompting interest from other clubs eager to secure his services. Charlton, Stockport, and Reading are among the clubs showing interest in signing him.

The winger’s impressive form for Hull during the 2020-21 season, while the club competed in the third tier, saw him net 22 goals and contribute nine assists. These are figures that the interested clubs are hopeful he can replicate.

Charlton and Reading experienced frustrating campaigns in the previous season, finishing 16th and 17th, respectively. However, both clubs aim to bolster their squads and elevate their positions in the league standings in the upcoming season.
