Hamer brings an impressive track record to Hillsborough, having played for 12 clubs and making over 350 appearances in his career so far.
Originating from Somerset, he began his goalkeeping journey with Reading, gaining his first senior experience on loan at Crawley.
During the 2006/07 season, he missed just one game and earned Town’s Player of the Year award.
Hamer then joined Brentford for the first of three loan spells. His third stint culminated in Brentford winning the League Two title, with Hamer securing the Golden Glove award for his 20 clean sheets.
After a loan spell with Exeter, Hamer signed permanently with Charlton, where he was immediately made the first-choice goalkeeper.
He won another title with Charlton, helping them gain promotion to the second tier under Owls coach Chris Powell.
Hamer was then promoted to the Premier League with Leicester, where he also played in the Champions League.
He had brief loan spells with Nottingham Forest and Bristol City before moving permanently to Huddersfield, and then to Swansea on another loan.
He spent the next two years at Watford, leaving this summer when his contract expired. Wednesday will be the 13th club of his career.
Welcome to Wednesday, Ben!
