Ex-Aston Villa star making his way to Birmingham City

Another new era began at Birmingham City last week, when the club announced the appointment of Chris Davies as manager.

Davies has built a solid name as an assistant to Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou at some of British football’s most prestigious clubs, including Liverpool, Celtic, and, most recently, Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the Watford-born 39-year-old has taken the hot seat for the first time in his career, filling the position in B9 just weeks after Tony Mowbray announced his retirement from the club due to health reasons.

Mowbray was one of six permanent and temporary bosses in charge at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park last term, with interim boss Gary Rowett in charge when the club’s relegation to League One for the first time in nearly 30 years was confirmed on the final day.

Davies’ appointment has been hailed by Blues fans, and he has even received backing from a former Aston Villa player.
