Ajax’s request to recruit Southampton winger Kamaldeen Sulemana on loan has been denied by FIFA. De Telegraaf claims that the Dutch behemoths filed their paperwork after the deadline, so Sulemana will not be relocating to Amsterdam. Ajax is adamant that they fulfilled the deadline and were anticipating FIFA’s approval.
Ajax even gave Steven Bergwijn permission to sign with Al-Ittihad, believing Sulemana would take their place. They now have a large hole on the wing that has to be filled. On deadline day, Portuguese winger Carlos Forbs also left the Johan Cruyff Arena for Wolves, leaving Mika Godts as the only available left winger for the team.
Kamaldeen Sulemana was scheduled to sign a season-long loan deal with Ajax, with the possibility of extending it. Documents were sent in “at the last minute,” according to the Amsterdam club, but the board was certain that everything had gone according to plan. Ajax only recently learnt that he won’t be permitted to participate after FIFA withheld their confirmation.
