The Premier League have now confirmed the match officials to oversee proceedings at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon between Manchester City and Southampton.
Pep Guardiola and his players will no doubt be hugely confident of further extending their unbeaten start to the new top-flight campaign, with Southampton sitting second from bottom in the Premier League table.
In fact, it was the bottom-placed side that City faced off against last time around, scoring in the fifth minute of injury time at the end of a clash with Wolves, as John Stones’ header recorded a dramatic 1-2 comeback win at Molineux.
Southampton have an identical record to Gary O’Neil’s side so far this season, drawing one game and losing seven as they remain winless upon their return to the Premier League from the Championship.
City remain in second position themselves as they come into matchday nine of the ongoing top-flight campaign, trailing Liverpool by a single point but moving three ahead of Arsenal last weekend following their 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth.
Ahead of the meeting between Manchester City and Southampton, the Premier League have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at the Etihad Stadium!
Match Referee
As confirmed by the Premier League this week, Tony Harrington will oversee proceedings between Manchester City and Southampton from the role of match referee on Saturday afternoon.
The 40-year-old official will be taking charge of his fifth match of the ongoing season, having issued 14 yellow cards across his opening four matches whilst awarding two penalties in the process.
Having overseen a number of Manchester City matches from the position of Video Assistant Referee, this weekend will become Harrington’s first match in charge of Pep Guardiola’s side as on-field match referee.
Assistant Referees
Accompanying Tony Harrington this weekend will be the assistant referee pairing of Derek Eaton and Akil Howson.
Video Assistant Referees
Operating from the VAR Hub at Stockley Park this weekend will be David Coote in the position of Video Assistant Referee, with further support and analysis from Assistant Video Assistant Referee, Simon Long.
Fourth Official
Ensuring that matters are kept in check between Pep Guardiola and Russell Martin’s dugouts on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium will be referee Sam Allison, appointed into the role of fourth official.
