One possible contender to take over as Southampton’s next head coach is Danny Rohl.
The Black Cats are reportedly looking at the Sheffield Wednesday coach as a potential replacement for Michael Beale, according to iNews.
Beale led the team for exactly nine weeks, winning just four of his twelve games in that capacity.
Due to Sunderland’s diminishing play-off push in recent weeks, Mike Dodds was named interim coach for the remainder of the season. A replacement will be named in the summer.
Since assuming leadership of the Owls in October, Rohl has garnered a great deal of praise, and the Wearside team is apparently considering pursuing him—though Will Still of Stade Reims is also a possible target.
Is Danny Rohl a wise choice to lead Sunderland as head coach?

Fabrizio Romano gives an update on Jobe Bellingham for Sunderland amidst connections to Chelsea and Spurs.
Since the summer transfer, Jobe Bellingham has had a successful debut season for Sunderland.
They still lack a lot of talented players in the group, but Rohl has undoubtedly helped them get to the stage where they are proficient enough tactically to defeat clubs in their immediate vicinity.
If they can defeat the teams surrounding them, they could be able to stay up. They might also manage to pick up the occasional result against someone above them.
“I would like to see it, but it could be risky. I like him, he is a young manager, and he might fit the model.”
The influence of Danny Rohl on Sheffield Wednesday
When Rohl took over, South Yorkshire was at the bottom of the Championship, and after their disastrous start to the season under Xisco Munoz, many had given up on them staying in the second division.
With eight games remaining, the difference to safety is now just one point, and a strong finish to the season might save their campaign and keep them in the second division for one additional season.
After going seven games without a victory, Sunderland is currently 13 points outside of the play-offs, meaning their chances of finishing in the top six are all but gone.
Danny Rohl would be a wise choice for Sunderland to hire.
Another name that has been connected to the opening at the Stadium of Light is Will Still. The 31-year-old would be a very intriguing addition.
If Rohl is unwilling to leave the highest division of French football and join the Black Cats, Sunderland’s owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus might do worse than try to hire him.
The youthful mentor exhibits immense promise, aligns with the team’s ideology, and ought to feel at ease collaborating with an actively engaged recruitment team.
Sheffield Wednesday’s turnaround speaks for itself, and if they can maintain their current level of play, that would be an extremely impressive accomplishment. However, if Rohl is successful in keeping Wednesday in the Championship, it is unlikely that he will be persuaded to make the switch; it would be more likely if the Owls were relegated.
