Divin Mubama of West Ham is apparently being considered by Sunderland in an effort to strengthen their underperforming attacking line.
After failing to come to an agreement on a new contract, West Ham academy product Mubama is scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the current campaign. Despite his promise, Mubama has struggled to get regular playing time under David Moyes, frequently taking a backseat to Danny Ings when the manager decides to substitute a striker.
West Ham and Sunderland already have a good working relationship thanks to the signings of Pierre Ekwah and Aji Alese. The transfer fee would be decided by a tribunal in the event that Sunderland managed to get Mubama’s signature.
The Football Academy?Sunderland sign Mubama as a contract rebel for the Hammers.
This season, Sunderland has struggled mightily to score goals, which has hurt their prospects of posing a real playoff threat. Amad Diallo, the leading scorer from the previous campaign, left after his loan was repaid.
Jack Clarke, a winger, has performed well, scoring 15 goals in 33 league games. But it’s clear that conventional strikers are not supporting this. The four starting nines for Sunderland combined only managed three goals in the league. On the other hand, Jobe Bellingham and Alex Pritchard have occasionally been chosen for attacking positions.
Tim Steidten is actively seeking to add a striker and winger to his roster during the upcoming transfer window, and Clarke is still a target for West Ham.
