Sunderland manager acknowledges the addition of new coaching staff.

sunderland, Sunderland boss makes admission over coaching staff arrivals

Sunderland appointed Régis Le Bris a couple of weeks ago, ending a lengthy search for Michael Beale’s permanent replacement in the northeast.

They are preparing for another season in the Championship, their third year back in the second tier.

There was much speculation about whether Le Bris would bring his own coaches to England, with some reports suggesting Sunderland was in talks with two of his former Lorient assistants. However, in his first press conference since his appointment, Le Bris mentioned that an interview process is underway to make additions to the coaching staff, but it won’t include his former team from Ligue 1.

A positive sign

When Michael Beale joined the club, he didn’t add to the coaching staff, a decision that drew criticism from fans. Some believe that Mike Dodds and Michael Proctor, who managed during the interim period, should have left at the end of the season.

However, that doesn’t seem to be the plan. It’s important to note that both Dodds and Proctor were part of Tony Mowbray’s successful team, contributing to the club’s promotion from League One.

The season ahead

Sunderland must improve this year, particularly in recruitment, which appears to be getting better with recent links to experienced midfielder Oliver Norwood.

The Black Cats finished 16th last season, far from a top-six side. It’s uncertain if they’ll bridge that gap this summer, but aiming for a top-half finish should be the minimum goal.

Le Bris, known for developing young talent in France, had a strong first year at Lorient. It will be interesting to see how he performs with Sunderland, especially when they face Cardiff City on the opening day.
