Ally McCoist claims that he would not want Celtic to experience the same fate as Rangers in 2012 because he would be too sad to miss the Old Firm games.
When the Rangers went bankrupt and were demoted to the then-Third Division twelve years ago, Ibrox hero McCoist was manager. He guided them to consecutive Championship promotions before stepping down as a coach in 2014. Now a well-known analyst, McCoist oversees a different scene from the one he left behind, with Rangers once again contending for the Premiership title under Philippe Clement. Before their much anticipated Scottish Cup Final on May 25, they play a vital league rivalry against Celtic on May 11.
However, would McCoist swap the current situation for their rivals to experience some of what he did twelve years ago? Not for the entire planet. TalkSPORT’s Jeff Stelling brought up a Liverpool supporter who expressed his disapproval of Everton being demoted from the Premier League during their conversation.

And a cheeky McCoist said, “No!” when asked if he would want to see Celtic leave the top division. I would be happy with the bottom three…
“We all basically live for the games we play against each other. I was at the fantastic 3-3 game at Ibrox. You missed us when the Rangers dropped to the third tier, regardless of what anyone claims. The Old Firm games are special, which is why you missed them.
“So I understand that – I don’t think Liverpool fans would want Everton to be successful, but they love the games against them, and they would miss the games against them.”
