Birmingham City striker has ended his existing contract

Lukas Jutkiewicz contract update after striker’s talks with Birmingham City

According to BirminghamLive, Birmingham City and well-liked striker Lukas Jutkiewicz are almost ready to sign a contract.

The 35-year-old, who has played for Blues for the past eight seasons, has a contract that expires at the end of the month and might conclude his time at St Andrew’s on a negative note if he is relegated.

It was disclosed by the Blues last month that they had sent fresh contract offers to both Jutkiewicz and seasoned goalkeeper John Ruddy. It appears that Jutkiewicz is almost ready to sign.

That will be a big boost for new manager Chris Davies who will need experience and attacking options in the squad he must now build to escape League One and return to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Jutkiewicz’s playing time has been reduced over the past two seasons; he only started three league games this past season and just eighteen the year prior, but he is still a valuable option off the bench, and he even returned toward the end of the previous season while still injured in an attempt to keep the team from relegation.

He played 330 games and scored 67 goals for Blues since moving from Burnley in 2016. He first joined on loan before signing a permanent deal for £1 million a few months later.
