The next stage in Louis Rees-Zammit is quest for an NFL career is a visit to two teams. The Welsh rugby player participated in UCF’s Pro Day practice this week.
Rees-Zammit, who enrolled in the league’s International Player Pathway Program in January, will visit the Browns and Jets, according to an announcement made by NFL UK. Having completed this week’s exercise in 4.43 seconds for the 40, he is anticipated to meet with other teams as well.
Rees-Zammit stated that he believes there are “transferrable skills” between the two games and that he is trying out for a position as a wide receiver, returner, or running back.
Rees-Zammit stated, via Rob Maadi of the Associated Press, “I think running back shows up probably best, getting the ball in my hand early, being able to pick a gap, being able to be aware of the surroundings.” “Catching kickoffs, catch and kick receipts, punt receipts, there is a lot of transferable skills,” Rees-Zammit said.
This season, the NFL altered its regulations to permit teams to set aside a 17th position on their practice squad for a foreign player. These players would also be exempt from roster restrictions throughout the summer and training camp. It appears that this will increase Rees-Zammit is prospects of securing a position to pursue a career in professional football.
