Oilers’ head coach Kris Knoblauch secures fifth place in Jack Adams Award voting
With 82 first-place votes, 23 second-place votes, and four third-place votes, Tocchet finished at the top of the voting standings by a substantial margin. The runner-up was Andrew Brunette, who led the Nashville Predators to a 47-30-5 record in his first season with the team, guiding them back to the playoffs after missing out the previous year.
Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch finished in fifth place in the voting, receiving three first-place votes, 12 second-place votes, and 13 third-place votes. Knoblauch took over in mid-November after the Oilers’ poor 3-9-1 start to the season. Under his leadership, Edmonton went 46-18-5, including a remarkable 16-game winning streak during December and January.
The Oilers haven’t had a Jack Adams Award winner since Glen Sather in 1985-86. Dave Tippett finished seventh in voting after the 2019-20 season, and Todd McLellan finished third in voting after helping the Oilers end their decade-long playoff drought in 2016-17.
The Oilers are just one day away from starting the Western Conference Final against the Dallas Stars, giving me plenty to discuss on today’s episode of Better Lait Than Never.
I began the podcast with a few leftover points from the end of the Vancouver series that I forgot to mention in yesterday’s reaction episode of Better Lait Than Never. However, I got sidetracked and ended up ranting about MILF Manor 2. If you haven’t seen it, it’s arguably the dumbest show ever made, which is precisely why I love it. Terrible TV + Baggedmilk = Happiness.
Returning the focus to the Oilers, I delved into some amazing stats that emerged after Game 7, which propelled the team into the next round. It’s incredible to see how some of Edmonton’s top players are putting up numbers that rank among the best in history. As we head to Dallas for the Western Conference Final, the Oilers will undoubtedly need their star players to continue performing, but they’ll also need more contributions from the rest of the lineup. After all, the best way to counter Dallas’ depth is with depth goals of our own, right?
