FLASHDOWN, St. Petersburg, On Thursday, the Red Sox optioned left-handed reliever Bailey Horn to Triple-A Worcester and activated right-handed reliever Lucas Sims from the 15-day IL.
Sims was acquired by Boston during the trade deadline from the Reds. Before going on the injured list on August 27 due to a right lat strain, he appeared in 11 games (10 innings) for the Red Sox, giving up nine runs, nine hits (two home runs), seven walks, and seven strikeouts.

Although he has not been activated, righty reliever Luis García (15-day IL, right shoulder discomfort) also traveled to Tampa for the series finale on Thursday.
García will “be activated over the weekend,” according to manager Alex Cora.
Following tonight’s game, the Red Sox return home to open a three-game series against the Twins on Friday.
