Sunderland Approves trade Chris Rigg To Manchester United

Chris Rigg, a seventeen-year-old midfield prospect, signed to a new three-year contract with Sunderland, so Manchester United were unable to recruit him. Rigg, who is regarded as one of the best players in his age group in English youth football, has a lengthy history with United. The youthful player, who just turned 17 a few weeks ago, has already made a remarkable 23 appearances for Sunderland in the Championship, scoring two goals.
When Rigg made his FA Cup debut against Shrewsbury in the 2022–2023 season, he was only 15 years old, making him Sunderland’s youngest-ever outfield player. In August of the same year, he scored against Crewe Alexander to set a new club record for youngest goal scorer. In addition, Rigg captains England’s U17 team. He played for his nation at the U15, U16, and U18 levels. Numerous teams were reportedly interested in signing the midfield player on a national and international level. Although Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen were also interested, United was one of their biggest admirers.

The Peoples Person even reported that back in May, the Red Devils were “prepared to make the first move” and submit a proposal for Rigg. But, the 17-year-old has now committed his future to Sunderland by signing a new contract, as disclosed by Fabrizio Romano.
